What to expect

Does the Cosmelan® mask work with any kind of spot?

With the Cosmelan® peel we treat all types of skin blemishes of melanin synthesis, that is, spots originating due to melanin overproduction triggered by several factors (hormonal, genetic, post-acne, inflammatory hyperpigmentation, severe cases of pigmentation etc.) that worsen due to sun damage.

Therefore, this peel treatment is effective to treat spots such as: melasma, new pigmentation, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentations (PIH), pigmented lesions, pigmentation concerns, solar, senile lentigo and freckles.

What is the best time to receive Cosmelan® professional treatment?

Cosmelan® can be used at any time of the year for any skin type, to reduce unwanted pigmentation, though it is advisable to do it at times when the sun is not so intense, such as the winter and autumn. I

n case you live in a hot region or apply the treatment in the summer, you must take greater care and use a very high sunscreen to avoid blood flushing and extreme peeling, such as melan 130 pigment control and avoid completely very intense and prolonged sun exposure.

How long does Cosmelan® professional treatment last?

The Cosmelan® method consists of four phases which are necessary to achieve the target result.

The first step performed is an intensive depigmentation mask, you are then prescribed a home treatment regimen to usepost treatment. The total duration of treatment is about 6 months, that can change based on the severity of the case.

How many treatments do I need to see results?

Only in clinic Cosmelan® treatments are required to achieve a radiant complexion. The most significant change takes place two weeks after applying the Cosmelan® mask in clinic treatment, it improves skin tone, melasma and pigmentation noticeably decreases.

Why do I need Cosmelan® homecare if the results are already seen after the peel?

This peel can give a misleading feeling of success, as there is a two phase process.

After your in clinic mask, the melanin has been removed from the outermost skin layers through intense depigmentation, and therefore we see the dark spots much more faded and your skin will feel tight, smooth and soft, but the origin of the skin condition has not been controlled yet.

The deeper layers of your skin contains melanocyte, a cell where melanin is produced. Post treatment your melanocyte is still uncontrolled and continues to produce a thick layer of excessive pigmentation (melanin).

Your Cosmelan® homecare is a regular maintenance program that contains a tyrosinase inhibitor to re-educate the melanocyte and control melanin overproduction, which is important so that the cell returns to a normal active state to manage recurrence of skin pigmentation.

Does the treatment make me unable to fulfil my daily life activities normally?

This chemical peel is non invasive meaning you can resume your activities of daily living normally.

After the third day you will begin to see skin shedding of dead skin cells and wound healing.

During the first week we recommend minimal exercise, swimming and sun exposure to aid the healing process of your skin, there is minimal discomfort and treatment results will begin to occur ensuring person wishes.
