HIFU Ultraformer III

HIFU works by using ultrasonic energy in combination with heat. The ultrasonic energy and heat bypass the surface of the skin to deliver targeted energy specifically into the deep, structural tissues and muscles of the skin.

HIFU machine is adjustable to target the upper dermis, lower dermis, and most importantly, the SMAS layer that sits between the muscle and the fat which is more difficult to reach with other modalities such as laser, radiofrequency, and other cosmetic procedures. The SMAS layer is the layer that a plastic or cosmetic surgeon would pull and tighten under the knife.

This flexibility allows us to treat any layer based on the patient’s condition. HIFU targets these layers without any surgical incisions, giving you excellent results without any of the risks associated with surgery.

HIFU Ultraformer III offers a range of options for skin concerns and goals, with potential benefits developing gradually following treatment, including:

• Tightening sagging skin on the face and neck
• Lifting the cheeks, eyebrows, and eyelids

The number of sessions required varies depending on the individual and treatment goals.

Some clients will see an initial effect right after their treatment, generally a refreshed, glowing look – however, the real results appear over the following 2-3 months as new collagen works to lift and tighten the skin. Treatment can then be repeated after 3-4 months if desired.

These results can last 1-2 years, however, this depends on a variety of factors, including age, health, how much collagen pre-existed to build on, skin laxity, lifestyle, and diet. Some clients may benefit from additional treatments.

There is nothing you need to do beforehand, however, please be aware that we cannot do HIFU on areas that have recently had injectable cosmetic treatments (within 2 months) or if you have had injectable cosmetic treatments within the last 72 hours before your appointment.

All treatments at The Skin Lab begin with a comprehensive consultation where you’ll share your medical history, background, and treatment goals. Together, we’ll then formulate a treatment plan to achieve your objectives, which may include other treatments and skincare.

During your procedure, you may experience some discomfort however this varies from person to person and intensity of treatment. You will not feel the heat, however, in some areas close to the bone it may be slightly painful for the few seconds that the therapy is applied in that spot.

Treatments are generally completed within 60-90 minutes and your physician will work with you to ensure you are always comfortable.

Following the HIFU procedure, you’ll be able to continue with your day-to-day activities. To help achieve desired outcomes, it’s important that patients who have undergone HIFU skin treatment understand and follow the aftercare instructions. This will help to prevent complications and side effects that can minimise the results of the treatment. These aftercare instructions include:

• Avoid the Sun
  It’s important to prevent exposure to sunlight and cold for a few weeks post treatment. Avoiding sun exposure will help to prevent hyperpigmentation and reduce the chance of sunburn and skin damage. This should be continued until the skin tightening process has completed.
• Take a break from alcohol
  Drinking alcohol should be avoided for 7 days post treatment. After HIFU, your liver will be tasked with breaking down the deactivated fat. Consuming alcohol during this time means that the liver will have to break down alcohol in addition to the deactivated fat.
• Don’t scratch!
  Avoid scratching your skin post-treatment. At this time your skin will be very sensitive, and scratching increases the risk of skin damage.
• Drink more water
  Drink lots of water and keep your body well hydrated after treatment. This will help your recovery by increasing the rate at which collagen is produced in the body.
