Redness, Rosacea and Broken Capillaries

While redness, rosacea and capillaries are all different skin concerns, they can often be interwoven conditions and do have a few things in common. Appearing flushed can be frustrating and uncomfortable, and all can be particularly difficult to treat with topical skincare. Many people suffer from looking as though they are embarrassed or like they’ve just done a workout, even while they’re relaxed and at rest. Others experience an increase in the number of spider vessels or burst capillaries throughout the face as they age, especially around the corners of the nose or on their cheeks.

Areas of Concern

Rosacea

Rosacea is still somewhat of a mystery throughout the skin science community, with the exact causes and treatments still up for debate. Rosacea is classified as a severe inflammatory condition, presenting as persistent redness throughout the face that is exacerbated by certain triggers like foods and exercise. It is sometimes coupled with pustules and breakouts, known as acne rosacea.

Broken Capillaries

Broken capillaries are small blood vessels on the face or body that have burst, resulting in a small red blotch where a tiny amount of blood has pooled below the skin’s surface and doesn’t drain away. These can appear as a result of trauma, or as we age and the skin becomes more delicate.

Redness

A broad term, redness can be a symptom of a number of conditions, including rosacea, sensitivity, allergies, or simply blood that is more visible as we age and the skin becomes thinner.
